Why does the Missions Mandate Seminar cost so little?

Normally, for a seminar of the length of the Missions Mandate the cost would be between $250 and $1500.
So, Why is the cost so low?

A lot of time and services are donated. Seminar administration is done mostly by the host church and mission agency personnel. This includes keeping track of delegate and exhibitor registrations along with a myriad of program details.

Those working locally are kingdom-minded laborers that donate their time. This includes a lot of leg work to get the word out among the local churches. Radio announcements if provided are done as a Public Service announcement. As you might imagine there are some local expenses. These are not reimbursed from delegate fees. These costs are shared among participating churches.

The church that hosts the event, may do so without charge even though there is time and expense associated with hosting the event. Other services that are donated include leading worship, sound system, plenary speakers and most workshop leaders. They receive no monetary compensation or an honorarium. Travel expenses for the team members that attend are not reimbursed - all to keep the price as low as possible so as not to be a stumbling block to seminar attendees.

If this is so then why is there a cost for this seminar?

First there are fixed expenses to cover. This involves travel, brochures, postage and the like. Then there are expenses for producing the notebooks and materials used at the seminar and the costs of food for continental breakfast and breaks. An honorarium expense for seminar presenters may also be required. These are just a few of the costs and usually what we receive does not cover all the expenses to sustain the seminar.

There is a sentiment among folks that a seminar such as this should be free or less costly. After all, isn't it true that mission agencies receive lots of outside funding and if they are trying to reach the people they should bear the expense of the seminar?

However, this is not principally true among most missions agencies. Many of the agencies that we use to teach and present at the seminar are small parachurch ministries and they are full time missionaries and have to raise their own funds. Our seminars are designed to be a dependable forum for people to explore the work that these ministries do. The goal is to encourage people to become involved with world missions and to focus on the mandate of descipling the nations, being witnesses by representing Christ at home or abroad. The Missions Mandate Seminar is not intended to put an agenda on anyone - that comes from the Holy Spirit.

Further, this is missions. Each ministry, like each church, must raise its own funds. There simply is not an abundance of funds in mission organizations to sponsor seminars. The fundamental dynamic is that people being evangelized or disciples among the nations do not pay for this service. Salvation is free, but the debt we owe, once we have been redeemed, is huge. All to Him we owe.

The financial risk for the seminar in your city is being borne by AOF Mission Inc. and the host church. AOF has invested thousands of man hours and money in developing the program. Even after several seminars at this cost and pricing schedule, that expense is still not fully reimbursed.

We pray that you will consider this training for you and your church.

We believe that this training will enable you to take a closer look at your church and evaluate it with an opened eye and a heart of God.

That you will be better prepared to see your church as God does.
